 Issues

I am running for town council because I believe in the following:

We must END partisan politics at the town level. Elected officials must do what is best for their constituents, not what's best for "the party". I want my elected officials to work for ME, not someone at the party headquarters.

We can improve our business districts by providing support for and encouragement of new and exciting projects that come to invest in our community.

We must work on controlling costs through shared services and long term fiscal planning. We must look at the big picture, and decide where we wish to be in 5, 10, even 20 years.

The Town of Manlius is more than just a place...it's home. My family and I are proud to call Manlius our home, and with your help, we can work to make the Town of Manlius even better.

Smaller, more efficient government is just the beginning.  Join me as we lead the Town of Manlius through the coming years making it a great place to live, work, and visit!
  • Baum for Business

Our business districts are struggling. The town and it's villages have a reputation of being anti-business. One needs only look to our codes and our recent business issues to see why.

We should work hard to fill in our empty spaces and to encourage careful growth in our existing zoning. We must also review zoning and make choices that are most beneficial to the community.

Click HERE to see information on the Sphere Development proposed for the Town of Manlius!  I support this project's right to go to the planning board. We have a process, and the Town Board should not block that. If the planning board doesn't think a project fits, then it doesn't fit.
  • No one running for office has as much experience helping our local business community as I do.

As a past President and a current  Board Member of the Greater Manlius Chamber of Commerce, I have long fought for and encouraged local shopping and helped the local business community. Whether it was representing our business community at the annual S.O.H.O. event at the OnCenter, or just helping a local business get established- I have been there!

As an employee-owner of my business, I know how to forecast, work within a budget, and get things done in a cooperative manner.

As a regional and state finals Judge in the high school D.E.C.A. program, I help students from all around the state get experience in real life business situations.

Lastly, as a Village trustee- I have a proven track record of sticking up for small businessand encoraging local growth in existing zoning. I sponsered local law 4-2008 which helps local businesses get started.

I understand that a strong business community means a BETTEr community with less taxes and more employment!

  • Evaluating Services

Our Town has 3 villages, 4 Fire Departments, 3 Recreation Departments, 3 D.P.W.'s (plus a highway department) and 2 school districts.

We must all work together to save our tax dollars and control our budgets. Smaller more efficient government is attainable.
